“The
doctors of the future will give no medicine, but will interest
his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and
in the cause and prevention of disease."

What
is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct system of primary health care
- an art, science, philosophy and practice of diagnosis, treatment
and prevention of illness. Naturopathic medicine is distinguished
by the principles that underlie and determine its practice. These
principles are based upon the objective observation of the nature
of health and of disease. These principles are continually reexamined
in the light of scientific advances. Methods used are consistent
with these principles and are chosen upon the basis of patient individuality.
Naturopathic physicians are primary health care practitioners, whose
diverse techniques include modern and traditional, scientific and
empirical methods.
What
are the principles of naturopathic medicine?
There are six principles of natuopathic philosophy
• The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae)
• Identify and Treat the Causes (Tolle Causam)
• First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere)
• Doctor as Teacher (Docere)
• Treat the Whole Person
• Prevention
What
kind of training do naturopathic doctors have?
Naturopathic physicians (N.D.s) are the highest trained practitioners
in the broadest scope of naturopathic medicine. In addition to the
basic medical sciences and conventional diagnostics, naturopathic
education includes therapeutic nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy,
natural childbirth, classical Chinese medicine, hydrotherapy, naturopathic
manipulative therapy, pharmacology and minor surgery.

What
should I expect at my first visit?
At your first appointment we will spend an hour going over your
history and your health goals. I will work to educate you on what
I feel the imbalance may be and how to resolve it. I will present
options and work with you to complete a plan. Any follow-up appointments
are usually 30 min. where we assess the plan and your healing process.
How
many times will I have to see my Naturopathic Physician?
It greatly depends on the nature of the condition (chronic vs acute).
Some individuals have a greater capacity for healing and are seen
less often. Typically, after the first office visit, the patient
returns in two weeks to assess his or her progress and determine
whether modifications in the treatment plan are needed. The goal
is to bring the individual to a greater level of health, so typically
patient visits become less necessary and less frequent over time.
Do
naturopathic physicians interact with other healthcare professionals?
Yes, I am committed to having my patients receive the best possible
care. This often requires consulting with your primary care physician,
chiropractor, acupuncturist, or massage therapist to insure a holistic
perspective.
What
methods of payment do you accept?
Cash and checks are accepted.
